About

Husband, father, geek, aikidoka

Nicholas Dille discovered his passion for it at the age of eight when his parents bought the first computer initially intended for his dad. After enduring DOS and GEM for some time, he developed an ever growing interest in the internals and the inner workings of computers and servers. All of this made him realize that the studies of Computer Science at the University of Bonn focusing on computer networks would be the next logical step.

For nearly 15 years, Nicholas is concerned with automation as well as virtualization on all layers. Currently, he is a DevOps Engineer at Haufe-Lexware, a digital media group based in Freiburg, Germany. In this role he uses continuous delivery to create and maintain containerized environments. Before that, he has been working as an IT architect for end-user computing and infrastructure services - for Makro Factory and sepago. Nicholas has excelled in many large enterprise projects by providing strategic market insights as well as by designing and implementing large scale environments.

In his community blog, Nicholas writes articles about topics from his expertise since 2007. He speaks regularly at community events, he has co-authored three books about Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012, in Windows Server 2012 R2 and in Windows Server 2016 in German.

His passion for technology and his community activity has been recognized by Microsoft since 2010 when he was first awarded MVP for Remote Desktop Services / Enterprise Mobility and has been renewed ever since. Currently, he is MVP for Cloud and Datacenter Management. In addition, in March 2017 Docker recognized his community contributions and included him in the Docker Captains Program.

Nicholas is also a member of the organizing team for x-celerate - a developer conference taking place in Freiburg, Germany on October 10th 2017. The event focuses on Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure as code.
